Position Description:
The GDLS Finance team is looking for a full time Principal Estimator for cost proposals, located in Sterling Heights, MI.
This role supports the development of proposals for GDLS products and services. The Principal Estimator will plan, develop, calculate, analyze and prepare cost proposals, and ensure that proposals conform to Company procedures and meet Federal Acquisition guidelines.
Primary duties include:
•assisting in the analysis of the customer's requirements, translating those requirements into specific instructions to all internal GDLS functions, and monitoring the responses for conformity to the instructions
•combining numerical data, either manual or electronic, together in a computer pricing model
•preparing summary analysis, reports and the submittal documents that consolidate cost and text into comprehensive volumes
•participate on the proposal teams as a Principal Estimator responsible for the preparation and assembly of cost proposals
•support contract negotiations
•support internal and external audits
•identify areas for process improvements and assist in implementation of revised processes
Position Requirements:
•Bachelors Degree required. Degrees in Finance, Accounting, or Business are preferred. Other degrees will be considered with relevant experience.
•Specific knowledge of how Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) impact the cost proposal process is preferred.
•Direct first hand cost proposal experience is desired. Experience in Program Management, Finance or Accounting would be beneficial.
•Occasional travel to customer or vendor locations may be required.
•Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills.
•Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software applications is required.
•Defense experience a plus.
•Experience with ProPricer and Oracle preferred.
