FCA is currently seeking a Senior Powertrain Transmission Application Engineer who reports to the chief engineer for multiple programs and provides supportive engineering tasks including but not limited to:
•Supporting the Chief Engineer (CE) in the execution of designated programs
•Managing the development of the applications matrix including all interface requirements for given programs including all variants and various vehicle platforms
•Coordinating packaging studies with each vehicle application to ensure all clearance requirements are met
•Leading advanced vehicle adaptation designs studies and freezes
•Coordinating data generation and approvals of AES/BES regulatory documents
•Updating and coordinating approvals of international product spec releases
•Updating and coordinating approvals of owner’s manuals
•Updating and coordinating approvals of CP, compliance report standards
•Negotiating requirements with vehicle platforms based on product limitations and capabilities
•Owning the Transmission Technical Specifications (TTS) and communicates application specific requirements to the team (i.e. max torque, NVH, FE, tire size, FDR selection, mass, etc.)
•Defining and tracking adherence to robust vehicle level and system level/sub-system functional objectives
•Coordinating external design changes that require platform approval
•Performing TOS as required
•Developing, managing and communicating external issues and change management
•Reviewing and approving the application checklist for each CN
•Coordinating application specific designs (torque converter, dampers, vents, LV & HV wire connections, bracket attachments, trans oil cooling, PIM and e-motor integration, etc.) including controls and calibration strategies
•Representing the chief engineer on vehicle assembly plant requirements and events (i.e. supports pilot builds, EOL test, VIN marking, build issues, etc.), development manager leads vehicle assembly issues, AE support
•Leading build readiness tasks (instrumentation plan, dyno support)
•Supporting Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) and benchmarking of competitive transmissions
•Coordinating COE assessments of bulletins and AT engineering response to bulletins
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•Minimum 5 years of industry engineering experience
•Demonstrated knowledge, experience and industry responsibility with transmission design
•Demonstrated knowledge, experience and industry responsibility with transmission design release
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•Demonstrated experience with leading small teams
