The Iron County Medical Care Facility (ICMCF) seeks a versatile Assistant to the Accounts Receivable and Education Departments to join their team in Crystal Falls, Michigan.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Accounts Receivable Director, Education Coordinator, and the Facility Administrator. This position requires familiarity with accounting procedures and the ability to effectively coordinate educational programs for the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT.
- Enter receipts, data, and adjusting entries to resident accounts and includes sometimes working directly with residents, family, billing agencies, insurance companies, etc.
- Prepare and verify insurance coverage related to admissions.
- Prepare and bill for services provided to residents (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, various insurances, private pay, etc.); track unpaid bills/statements records.
- Assist in planning, development and coordination of facility wide education and related training material.
- Attend/participate in continuing education programs.
- General office duties including organizing meeting schedules; take meeting notes and/or transcribe notes taken at meetings; order office supplies, prepare mailings/packages for delivery, maintain spreadsheets and files; answer phones, etc.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS OUR ASSISTANT.
- 4 year’s directly related experience with bookkeeping or accounting and proficiency with accounting procedures required.
- Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or directly related field not required, but helpful.
- Knowledge of nursing home operations preferred.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Third-Party Insurance Billing preferred.
- Proficiency w/computers and general office software including an advanced working knowledge of Excel required.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor that ensures trust and competence amongst peers.
- Ability to remain calm and composed, take direction and be flexible in job duties as this position has frequent interruptions.
- Ability to effectively manage a diverse workload and prioritize tasks.
