Position Summary
Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management, has an opening for a tenure system assistant professor in logistics/transportation to start in the 2020-2021 academic year. Duties include research, teaching, and service, and the teaching responsibility would involve logistics and transportation management courses in the undergraduate program. Salary and terms are negotiable depending on experience.
Required Degree
Doctorate -preferred in logistics/transportation/supply chain management
Minimum Requirements
The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited university. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of research excellence in logistics and supply chain management. Candidates must have the ability to teach at the undergraduate and MBA levels.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidates will have an established (or emerging) research program that demonstrates expertise in conducting theoretically driven, applied, empirical research on managerially relevant, contemporary logistics topics. Candidates will have the ability to contribute to the SCM Department’s scholarly research record and #1 ranking on the SCM Journal List for empirically focused journals (http://www.scmlist.com/home/university-rankings/empirical-report/), as well as other high impact empirical journals for SCM scholars. Specific areas of expertise that MSU is interested in include, but are not limited to, strategic warehousing, humanitarian logistics, last mile logistics fulfillment, closed loop supply chains, and logistics strategy. From a methodology perspective, candidates with business analytics among their expertise will be given priority. The ideal candidates will also have a demonstrable history of teaching excellence.
