General Description
The Accounting Associate performs basic accounting duties requiring an intermediate knowledge of general accounting procedures. The role is responsible for providing assistance to the general accounting function and overall department.
Essential Functions
•Updates charts and statistical information
•Maintains integrity of data files
•Prepares and mails invoices
•Verifies order data, discounts, freight charges, shipping and routing information
•Answers customer invoice questions
•Scans and maintain files
•Collects and distributes incoming mail / Prepares outgoing mail
•Assists with preparing and adjusting journal entries.
•Assists with computing sales tax and preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements
•Assists in completing month end close procedures and coordinating activities
•Supports Invoicing, Cash Applications, Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable functions
•Compiles and classifies financial information for reports and KPI's
•Performs basic troubleshooting to reconcile balances; obtains missing information/verifies unusual data
•Documenting processes and creating SOPs
•Assists with completing Month End close procedures and coordinates activities
•Supports the Accounting Services department with departmental projects
•Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
•Currently Enrolled in a Bachelor's of Accounting, Finance or related Degree Program
(with credits earned equivelant to a Junior or Senior status) or the eqivelant years of education and relative work experience.
•Minimum of 1 business or accounting internship or equivelant
•Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the accounting field
•Familiar with research and general account structures - GAAP
•Familiar with Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
•Experience with J. D. Edwards, other ERP systems or Financail Reporting systems
•Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook)
•Knowledge of products, shipping and sales tax policies
