The Gasoline Engine Calibration Engineer — is responsible for developing, testing, and validating powertrain calibrations that achieve world-class fuel economy, and drivability meeting current and future emission standards. The Engineer will plan and coordinate day to day activities of development vehicles and emission test facilities. This will include interaction with technicians and support engineers. Calibrations will be developed for powertrain technologies to meet emission requirements and functional objectives for future and carry over applications. The Engineer will analyze and solve complex system problems as they relate to propulsion system performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and combustion development. The Engineer will manipulate and utilize large data sets pertaining to the performance of the powertrain. The Engineer will also actively participate in the decision process of powertrain hardware selection and controls development requirements to meet functional objectives for each powertrain.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university
•Minimum one year of experience with powertrain development and/or calibration
•Experience with acquiring and processing of data
•Fundamental knowledge of internal combustion engines
•Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions regulations, engine technologies and competitive products
•Valid US driver’s license with an excellent driving record
•Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
•Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently as well as in a team
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or from an accredited university
•3 or more years of experience in engine development, powertrain systems development /engine calibration /control systems development / diagnostics within the automotive industry
•Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques
•Proficient in advanced simulation tools (HIL, Virtual Test Bench, etc.)
•Proficient in MATLAB / Simulink
