Legal Counsel (Chapter 11 Bankruptcy)
In this critical role on AlixPartners' Corporate Services team, you will work with other Legal, Compliance and Risk professionals to handle and prepare critical legal pleadings, engagement letters and documents, many required by the bankruptcy courts, in support of AlixPartners' Turnaround and Restructuring Services practice.
The Legal Counsel position is a full-time role in Southfield, Michigan and reports to the Associate General Counsel - Restructuring. Relocation may be considered for this position.Key Responsibilities:
•Manage processes and prepare documents required for retention in Chapter 11 matters; assist with obtaining approval of such retentions by Bankruptcy Courts
•Prepare, manage and develop engagement letters related to turnaround and restructuring services, using SpringCM engagement letter tool
•Understand and formulate disclosures required in Chapter 11 matters and ensuring proper supplementation of such disclosures; advise on parties in interest matters and related disclosures
•Draft and prepare supplemental declarations, certifications and similar documents
•Create and maintain internal reports to track status and requirements in Chapter 11 engagements
•Draft and review Fee Applications and compensation & staffing reports
•Review, revise and finalize NDAs and confidentiality agreements
•Assist with management and production of Court filings in Chapter 11 matters
•Conduct document retrieval, research and tracing/confirming retention filings, CNO on Prime Clerk, KCC, Epiq and Pacer
•Handle special projects
•Coordinate communication with and between our firm's clients, internal stakeholders, in-house counsel, outside professionals, and service providers to resolve issues relating to litigation, bankruptcy, and conflict management
•Additional duties as identifiedQualifications/Requirements:
•Graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law
•3-5 years legal experience in Chapter 11 matters
•Keen knowledge and experience in large Chapter 11 cases required
•Experience drafting retention pleadings in Chapter 11 cases required
•Experience with drafting and reviewing Fee Applications and compensation and staffing reports, including billing and compensation in Chapter 11 matters
•Ability to work effectively with the Legal, Compliance and Risk Team professionals in the field, as well as outside legal counsel

•Ability to handle confidential, sensitive information
•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, knowledge of SpringCM, and working/communicating via e-mail
•Possess characteristics such as: common sense, diligence, integrity, professionalism, good judgment, and accountability
•Ability to work full time in an office environment and flexible to work overtime, as needed; Physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the work day
