SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the month-end accounting close, reconciling activity in various general ledger and banking accounts, maintain subsidiary AR systems, review and investigation of variances, trends, and subsequent reporting. This position is also responsible for account analysis and the integrity and confidentiality of financial information. Strong excel skills required (i.e. pivot tables and vlookups).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Supports month-end, quarter-end and annual accounting close by preparing timely general ledger and banking account reconciliations, analyses and journal entries.
•Manages all aspects of A/R, A/P and G/L (including prepaids and accruals).
•Accounts Payable function encompasses the processing of all accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy of each invoice and proper classification.
•Accounts Receivable function encompasses the accurate posting and classification of the daily receivable transactions, preparing deposit slips when needed, and maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of each day’s transactions.
•Prepares and maintains roll-forward schedules. Analyzes bad debt reserves, provisions and allowances for adequacy and reasonableness on at least a monthly schedule.
•Reviews, processes and applies credits to retail customer’s accounts within the specified time frames.
•Audits the refund process to ensure accuracy of credits being applied in accordance with established policies.
•Assists in the preparation and reviews financial reports for variances and trends.
•Processes lockbox deposits and ACHs on customer accounts.
•Prepares and posts revenue related journal entries and prepare related revenue reconciliations.
•Prepares audit schedules and bank schedules as required.
•Assists and/or assumes responsibility for special projects as assigned by Management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university; 4+ years accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Significant attention to detail and strong excel skills a must. Experience with Concur and NetSuite Accounting System desired.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, write, follow directions, and possess above average listening skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff. Strong administrative and organization skills needed.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a selection of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
