PRIMARY PURPOSE
Efficient production performance that adheres to required company quality policies. This position is responsible for loading raw materials into production and automated production lines, inspection of raw/finished product, packaging and assembly/machine operations on the line. He or she is ensures the production process follows the required standards concerning quality and quantity of parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Load raw material into production and automated production lines including but not limited to aluminum castings, iron castings, and steel forgings.
- Unload finished parts from production line, confirm in SAP system and pack parts into production transport pallet according to instructions.
- Visually check and measure parts using required gages according to inspection instructions.
- Read and understand information from SAP system regarding production job numbers; select proper job number to run in SAP based upon information supplied by logistics and production management.
- Data entry for parts tracking in SAP computer system.
- Set part status for parts taken out of the line and putting parts back into line.
- Label parts clearly and deposit them respectively.
- Properly label and separate all defects produced during machining of parts.
- Pay attention to proper labeling of materials and storing areas.
- In a timely manner provide parts and transport containers to guarantee a smooth flow of material.
- Take parts to Quality Lab and return parts from the lab back to the machining line.
- Check and adjust all essential measurement equipment.
- Power machines up and down and reset as necessary.
- Constantly monitor screen on workplace to check if any problems exist and, if problems exist, inform supervisor.
- Document tool wear and machinery downtimes in the machine protocol plan.
- Operate forklift truck occasionally to move containers of parts to and from production line.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Sweep and mop floors, wipe down equipment, remove empty pallets, etc.
- Responsible for cleanliness of machines. Pay attention to cleanliness and secure operation of the clamping devices and locators.
- Notify material requirements (e.g. production and assembly material) in a timely manner to supervisor to meet production needs.
- Responsible for informational flow with required personnel (written and verbal).
- Effective communication with internal (e.g. co-workers, supervisors) and external (e.g. clients, suppliers, certification companies) partners.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, including attendance at internal and external meetings.
- Comply with all Weber Automotive Employee Conduct and Work Rules; comply with all policies contained in the Employee Handbook.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School graduate or GED or vocational school courses in mathematics, blueprint reading, schematics, metalworking or drafting
- Must have good organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Able to function in a team-based environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Excellent eye-hand coordination
- Good problem solving abilities
- Ability to do highly accurate work that requires concentration and physical effort
- SAP knowledge is advantage but not required for employment
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing plant producing parts.
- Ability to read, write and follow work instructions.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers and other quality gages, preferred.
- Experience in use of forklift truck and other manufacturing equipment.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with ability to work under minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision.
