Associate Project Manager, Airport Technologies
Position Summary/ Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Project Management and working closely with a Senior Project Manager, in this role you will ensure the effective development and delivery of Airport Baggage Handling systems to our customers. You will participate in a cross functional team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers as well as subcontractors and other resources, to design, install and commission customer solutions to some of the world's largest airports. You will bring a strategic competence to the organization that is indispensable to the success of our business and the customers we support.
Major Areas of Responsibility
•Coordinate and provide direction to ensure achievement of deadlines and budget goals for multi-year, multi-million dollar baggage handling systems by proactively rallying all necessary resources.
•Cultivate the people skills needed to develop trust and communication among all of a project's stakeholders: its sponsors, those who will make use of the project's results, those who command the resources needed, and the project team members.
•Use a broad and flexible toolkit of techniques to resolve complex, interdependent activities for tracking tasks and sub-tasks that are documented, monitored and controlled; Adaptation of the approach to each project, knowing that not "one size fits all".
•Improve upon business results and seek opportunities to improve upon skills through lessons-learned reviews at project completion.
Desired Skills, Abilities and Experience
•Bachelor degree or equivalent years of work experience in material handling or construction.
•Knowledge of computer scheduling software, preferably Primavera or Microsoft Project.
•Work well under pressure, are comfortable with change and complexity in dynamic environments; can shift readily between the "big picture" and the small-but-crucial details, knowing when to concentrate on each.
•Successful project execution supported through relationship building will likely necessitate travel and a commitment to support the stakeholders and key contributors of the project, at all costs.
Demonstrated Physical Abilities
•Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence. Capable of maneuvering through an industrial conveyor system requiring climbing access ladders, negotiating screen guards and lifting and/or carrying objects up to 40 lbs.
