Responsibilities
A new “once in a career” dream job is now available for a Nursing Administrator at the Henry Ford Hospital on West Grand Blvd in downtown Detroit.
Henry Ford Hospital is a state-of-the-art, Level 1 trauma center, 900 bed tertiary care hospital, teaching, and research center located in Detroit's New Center area. The hospital is recognized for clinical excellence in the fields of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, multi-organ transplantation, and the treatment of prostate, breast and lung cancer. It is the flagship hospital of the Henry Ford Health System, one of the nation's leading comprehensive integrated health systems. The hospital is staffed by Henry Ford Medical Group with most physicians as Henry Ford employees.
- We are seeking an experienced Nurse Administrator who can be a change agent for our critical care units.
- This position requires a BSN and a Master Degree. See education requirements below.
- Previous experience in leading ICU and critical care in-patient units is a necessity for the position.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- The Henry Ford Hospital has three Nursing Administrators that supervise all in-patient units. This position will supervise one division comprised of the ICU's, critical care units, a Neuro Medical Surgical and an Epilepsy unit. A total of 8 units.
- All in-patient critical care and Neuro falls under this position. Two Stroke Coordinators also report to this position.
- The position is responsible for 165 beds, a total 667 indirect FTE's, 11 direct reports, and a budget of approximately $43 million dollars.
- Reports to the Chief Nursing Officer/VP of Patient Care Services. Assumes 24 hour responsibility for the assigned division.
- Henry Ford Health System is currently implementing the Epic medical record system. The Henry Ford Hospital will be going “live” on November 2nd of this year.
- This position will interact with physicians, other hospital departments, quality and safety, senior administration and support services.
- With the coming changes in the Healthcare industry, critical care units will need to be restructured and this position will be the change agent to make this happen. New critical care step down units will need to be created in order to move patients down from the higher cost ICU's to the more economical critical care step down unit model.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or completion of other formal nursing education necessary to obtain/maintain an advanced practice nursing Michigan license (Midwife, CRNA, CNS, or Nurse Practitioner) is required.
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Management or other related field required.
- A minimum of five years of clinical experience as an RN. Minimum of 3-5 years progressive nursing leadership experience.
- Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certification.
- Management experience with large budgets and direct report supervision.
