Catalytic Converters Technician

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
* The Technicians at SGS are responsible for executing daily test plans in accordance with customer requirements and ensuring the test results are of the highest quality and accuracy.
* The technicians are also responsible for installing customer components and test fixtures into the test cell, installing instrumentation, setting up the test control interface, and maintenance of various measurement devices.
* Technicians are responsible for maintaining a safe working environment through awareness and good housekeeping practices.

* Reports to the Laboratory Manager
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Install and setup customer supplied components for testing.
* Execute test plans by following procedures.
* Perform initial data quality checks.
* Configure test bed operation system for safe and optimal testing.
* Become proficient at using the test cell systems.
* Setup data channel configurations and test profiles.
* Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implement resolutions with minimal guidance.
* Ability to effectively communicate and articulate ideas, operational issues, and test quality issues to engineers and managers.
* Fabricate and/or modify fixture and test components as required.
* Any other activities as requested by Lab manager
* At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct
Qualifications:
PROFILE
* 3 or more years experience in a durability testing environment.
* Experience in equipment maintenance, repair, and diagnostic troubleshooting.
* Desire to work in Taylor, MI.
* Use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel a plus.
* Participate in data quality review and troubleshooting.
* Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implement resolutions with minimal guidance.
* Ability to effectively communicate and articulate ideas, operational issues, and test quality issues to engineers and managers.
* Must be available to work Morning, Afternoon, and Midnight shifts as well as weekends.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Knowledge in the setup, maintenance, and operation of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental, and electro dynamic systems.
* Basic computer skills.
* General understanding of automotive mechanics
EDUCATION
* Associate Degree in Engineering Technology preferred

* In accordance with the SGS HSE Management System requirements, disposes of, or directs the disposal of, waste generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all waste transportation and disposal regulations and requirements.
* Reports all incidents (actual incidents and near misses) in accordance with the SGS Incident Reporting requirements.
* Uses all equipment (including safety equipment) in the manner intended and reports any damaged / lost equipme nt to supervisor.
* Maintain a safe and tidy worksite.
* Maintains awareness of hazards and proposes controls to supervisor, HSE Representatives or relevant client / site contact.
* Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management.
