Allegan General Hospital seeks a Full Time CRNA Nurse Anesthetist.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, but may not be limited to:
- Conduct a pre-anesthetic assessment of each patient according to current standards of care and the policies of the AGH and the anesthesia department.
- Prepare all anesthetic related equipment to assure its readiness, availability, cleanliness, and appropriateness prior to the anesthetic.
- Develop an anesthetic care plan appropriate to the patient's surgery, medical status, and desires, in accordance with physician approval. Discuss this plan with the patient and\or guardian including anesthetic options and associated risks.
- Initiate and maintain the anesthetic plan using all specified and indicated monitoring modes, vigilantly conduct the anesthetic by maintaining constant attention to the patient and legibly recording all important intra-operative anesthetic information on the anesthesia record.
- Appropriately manage "normal" and "difficult" patient airways utilizing oropharyngeal airways, nasopharyngeal airways, LMAs, endotracheal tubes, fiberoptic intubating laryngoscope, and other devices/equipment available for use at AGH.
- Assist in the transport of the patient to Post Anesthesia Care Unit after the patient is stable, communicate with the PACU nurse regarding all information that is essential for safe post-anesthesia care.
- Legibly and accurately document a postoperative patient assessment and review of the medical record to determine if any post-anesthetic problems have developed.
- Communicate closely with the surgical physician regarding changes in the anesthetic care plan, patient status, or other information necessary for the physician to appropriately care for the patient throughout the surgical experience.
- Develop and facilitate communication with the Manager of Anesthesia regarding all aspects of department function.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE, but may not be limited to:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
- Graduate of an accredited school of anesthesia
- Current certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
- Current license to practice nurse anesthesia in the State of Michigan.
- Current ACLS certification
- Work related experience should not be greater than six months from either completion of anesthesia training or last anesthesia position held
- Competency to perform most common types of general anesthesia, including intravenous and inhalation.
- Competency to perform regional anesthesia including; Ultrasound Guided Peripheral Nerve Block, spinal, bier block, and epidural techniques.
- Competency to place peripheral and central venous lines, PICC lines, and radial arterial lines.
- Understanding of safe use and operation of equipment utilized in caring for the anesthetized patient. (i.e.: anesthesia machine and monitors)
