ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
As an Engineering Technician 3, you'll apply advanced engineering skills, knowledge, and techniques to products, tools, materials, and/or equipment to provide engineering support and documentation. You may adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet special needs. You'll also perform highly technical tasks, referring only the most complex problems to higher levels.
WHAT YOU\'LL DO

* Operate CMM and other various metrology instruments (gauges, calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, and dimensional verification equipment).
* Utilize Faro Arm, and Blue Light Scanning equipment.
* Coach, mentor, and assist in the training of new Engineering Technician staff as needed.
* Create, update, and maintain required documentation as required (Bill of Material [BOM], Quality Systems, or other information specific to your work area).
* Participate in and may lead continuous improvement processes, project teams, and related initiatives.
* Participate in continuous learning opportunities such as educational and training opportunities. You will retain an open attitude toward new engineering ideas, methods, and technologies.
* Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
* Perform all work in a team environment and ensure all work is completed 100 percent on time.
* Perform engineering tasks, including measuring, testing, documenting, and creating/modifying drawings based on sound engineering principles. You may also adapt procedures to meet special needs using your skills and experiences.
* Read, create, and modify drawings to support the product/layout requested by the customer.
* Work cross-functionally with colleagues in Purchasing, Manufacturing, Applications, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Order Administration, Facilities, Quality, etc.

You might be just who were looking for if you have...
* An Associate's degree in Engineering Technology. A strong mechanical aptitude with a minimum of seven years of proven work-related experience in the Engineering Specialist field may be considered. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
* Five to seven years of applicable engineering support experience.
* Proficiency in CMM operation, Faro Arm operation and Blue Light Scanning operation.
* A familiarity with basic measuring equipment (calipers, comparator, etc.).
* The ability to read, understand, and apply blueprints, manufacturing routings, geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T), and work-specific codes (inventory, P/C unit of measure, etc.).
* The ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Herman Miller office environment. You will also need a basic understanding of the current CAD system(s) used within the functional area.
* A knowledge of and ability to apply engineering procedures and practices.
* The ability to achieve deadlines and completion dates.
* The ability to be detail-oriented and ensure accuracy.
* The ability to be a team player and to understand Herman Miller's values, goals, and objectives, as well as key financial drivers such as EBITDA.
* The ability to be self-motivated and manage your workload.
* Good listening, writing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters to non-technical audiences.
* The ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations.
