Summary:
The role of the Floor Maintenance is to comply with the standards of performance for the environmental upkeep of Covenant HealthCare. This includes all floor and carpet surface care, miscellaneous project and deep cleaning work in all patient, non-patient, support and other areas of the facility; while working in compliance with mandated regulations and standards regarding infection prevention and control, sanitation, and overall cleanliness. The Porter assists in the upkeep and maintenance of the facility by reporting items needing fixing or repair to the appropriate person(s).
The Floor Maintenance demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This includes providing basic needs and service to customers and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Total environmental cleaning of area
Utilizes appropriate machines, equipment and methods while cleaning.
Replaces supplies, change curtains & drapes; move and transport specified equipment & furnishings
Handles trash, biohazard waste, needle boxes, clean and soiled linen according to standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Utilize and comply with standards relating to Universal Precautions as appropriate.
Empty and maintain waste & recycling containers using appropriate liners.
Dispose of trash and properly store infectious waste and recycling according to standard & policy
Assess condition of overall area and equipment, taking proper action complying with standards for items needing fixing, repair or maintenance.
Maintain the cleaning and storing of equipment in functional order.
Properly store and label all cleaning solutions and chemicals.
Maintain, stock and utilize supplies in storage rooms and closets appropriately.
Maintain linen closets ensuring cleanliness and organization.
Complies with Covenant philosophies regarding total Customer Satisfaction.
Properly utilizes (while complying to standards), documentation/paperwork, electronic and other technological tools to ensure total customer satisfaction.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or G.E.D equivalent
Prefer previous environmental experience in a healthcare setting
Prefer previous experience in all types of floor, carpet and hard surface cleaning/care.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Prefer knowledge of cleaning and general environmental care procedures, including floor and carpet care.
Prefer knowledge of waste management and universal precautions
Operation of basic electronic/technological devices
Operation of equipment and tools to effectively and efficiently clean floors, carpets and other surfaces
Possess excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with fellow co-workers, Covenant HealthCare patients and visitors, complying with Covenant HealthCare philosophies
Able to work independently (individually) and as part of a team
Able to work with frequent interruptions
Able to problem solve and exercise sound, sufficient judgement and flexibility to meet changing priorities
Able to take direction and supervision from a varying amount of people
Able to deal with stressful situations
