Position Description:
The System Design Engineer is an individual who may have responsibilities, expertise, and experience across a range of design, analysis, and test activities with systems, subsystems, components, and software, and spanning the life cycle of a project from design concepts to end item test and evaluation.
•Define and ensure traceability of the system and subsystem requirements
•Perform functional analysis to develop flows and concepts of execution
•Design and develop the system and subsystem architecture, interfaces, and design including commonality considerations
•Decompose system and subsystem performance and verification requirements, and develop design verification plans and reports
•Identify, define, and manage power, data, and other system interfaces
•Ensure the system, subsystem, and component interfaces are maintained
•Manage power and network bandwidth allocations for vehicle functions
•Ensure the system design aligns across physical, power, data, and software
•Integrate and verify the system and subsystem components
•Define and execute system and subsystem integration, test, and verification
•Provide technical inputs to planning, schedules, and cost estimates
•Achieve proficiency in one or multiple domains (e.g., Power, Fire Control, Diagnostics, Information Assurance, C4, Software User Interface design, etc.)
Position Requirements:
- Required B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of revelant experience preferred.
- Significant skills in subsystem requirements design & test
- Experience/knowledge on Stryker programs preferred, including MEP/Lethality
- Experience/knowledge with C4ISR/FBCB2 preferred
- Experience/knowledge with Embedded Training preferred
- Self starter; highly motivated
- Perform preliminary design and analysis
- Must be able to work in an Integrated Product Team environment and be able to communicate across functional organizations
- Trouble shooting vehicle subsystems
- Performing failure analysis & be able to provide technical direction for corrective action solutions
- Must be able to write technical reports
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required
- Able to work in office, shop, test lab, test site environments, and in vehicles
- Able to work overtime if required
- Willing to travel on an intermittent basis to production facilities & customer sites
