OVERVIEW

Lead commodity sourcing and provide supply base management within established guidelines, developing efficient supply base to obtain optimal material cost and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to effectively address issues related to price, delivery, and quality of purchased materials.
• Consolidate vendor and commodity base as necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of base price data for responsible commodity purchases; respond to price increases with goal to negate or minimize all increases.
• Authorize payment of invoices or material returns as required.
• Assist Operations scheduler to develop proactive material plan; verify on-hand material and order quantities relative to weekly/monthly production schedules; analyze inventory levels and adjust orders as necessary.
• Develop creative ideas, strategies, and programs to drive down inventory levels on continuing basis.
• Evaluate vendor capacity and make recommendations to increase, decrease, and/or modify supply requirements based on capacities.
• Conduct vendor audits and evaluations as required.
• Establish, review, and take corrective actions regarding vendors utilizing the vendor scorecard system.
• Establish known commodity forecasting for presentation on a quarterly basis
• Prepare and solicit RFQs. Analyze and evaluate quotations and offerings to determine most competitive solution relative to Quality, Delivery and Cost
• Maintain historical reference of stock by keeping records of items purchased; prices, delivery and shipping costs, and product or service acceptability
• Participate in cost reduction projects

Qualifications

• Supports Operations Procurement functions with minimal supervision
• Proven Contract Review and Negotiation skills

• Proven Cost analysis presentation skills
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with vendors and employees of all levels

Education and Experience

• BA from an accredited college or university;
• 5-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills and Knowledge

• Proficient using PC, via keyboard/mouse, and various software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite and ADP).
• Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity and privacy of confidential information.
• Ability to work well under pressure and quickly assess and respond appropriately to questions.
• Ability to adapt to change and learn quickly.
