PRIMARY PURPOSE
The primary purpose of this position is to aid Weber Automotive in meeting its goals and targets. This is done by working within the quality system on Quality Planning and Execution projects. This does include working on new projects and continuous improvement initiatives on current projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Quality Planning related to their assigned project.
- Knowing and understanding the timing of their assigned project, from when machines and tooling need to be ordered to the required start of production.
- Knowing and understanding the full customer drawing and all the specifications that go with that drawing and any specification that may have been identified in any subsequent commercial agreements.
- Knowing how the part will be measured, assembled and used by the customer to the full extent possible.
- Helping the people on the project understand the customer's needs.
- Must know and understand fully the process by which we will provide the customer with the part they have ordered. They must know not only how it is machined and inspected but how we control the process itself.
- Supporting engineering with the development of the PFMEA.
- Matching the capacity of the inspection system with the capacity and capability of the machines and tooling producing the parts.
- Budgeting for and selecting the necessary inspection equipment, making sure it is ordered, delivered and installed on time.
- APQP documentation including the writing of the three levels of the control plan; pre-launch, safe launch and production.
- Writing the work instructions for inspectors and providing any needed visual aids as part of the instructions.
- Training the inspectors and other production personnel in the inspection of the parts at the start of the program.
- Ensuring that engineering has the necessary information and support to launch a process that produces zero process defects.
- Ensuring that production has the necessary information and support to maintain the process within the parameters designed by engineering to maintain zero process defect status.
- Approving supplier PPAP's and working with suppliers to improve if there are deficiencies that affect our products or processes.
- Coordination pre-launch inspection activities and the analysis of the resultant data
- Coordinating and submitting PPAP documents.
- Communication with the Customer's Supplier Quality Contacts.
- Monitoring customer satisfaction before and after launch and working with the Customer to resolve any Quality Concerns.
- Working with Engineering on Engineering Change Activities to ensure we maintain our zero defect status.
- Working with Engineering and Production on continuous improvement activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- ASQ - certified quality engineer / technician; or minimum (5-7) years of experience as a quality engineer
- Microsoft Office
- MS Project
- Statistical Process Control
- Basics in CMM technology
- Sound knowledge in measuring techniques

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
