Department Summary
The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) Governance Lead position is a key position within Enterprise Project Management (EPM) that provides project management governance expertise to large and small capital projects. This position will be responsible for leading project managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) through successful execution of projects through the Project Lifecycle Management process.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager III (PM-III) is responsible for the overall leadership, management, administration and execution of large, complex project(s) with significant business risk. In that role, the PM-III shall have one or more assigned projects at one or more locations. The PM-III will typically manage mission critical projects including environmental or regulatory compliance, reliability enhancements, availability improvements or modifications that increase power generation. The PM-III will typically be responsible for project work scopes, preliminary schedules, conceptual cost estimates, cash flow projections, design development, procurement of materials, equipment, services as well as construction activities. The PM-III will maintain an adaptable management philosophy and utilize metrics to monitor and control safety, scope, cost, quality and schedule performance.
The Project Manager III (PM-III) has the overall responsibility for the leadership and control of the assigned project plan and project organizational team.
Primary duties include: Overall responsibility for the implementation of a Project Management Information Systems and other digital tools (software applications and systems) across the enterprise to support project management and delivery. Overall leadership of project execution, establishment of the project plan, project team, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy. Implements, regulates and maintains the appropriate safety culture.
•Coordinates and maintains liaison with Information Technology (IT) Project Management, Architecture Firms, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Implementation Firms, and Customer Management during all phases of the project. The PM-III shall provide all documentation required by the project plan. The PM-III may establish and chair periodic project team status meetings. The PM-III will ensure all actions and results from these meetings are captured with appropriate resources assigned to disposition. The PM-III presents project status to senior management, Steering Committee management, corporate executives and Board of Directors as required.
•Monitors and controls project activities and behaviors through administrative processes and direct communication to ensure the project is implemented to design, completes on schedule and within budget; ensures infrequently performed evolutions are thoroughly discussed so as not to compromise safety or challenge capital project delivery and plant operations; anticipates potentially serious situations and incorporates corrective measures into the work plan.
•Complies with the Corporate Code of Conduct when representing the company at industry gatherings, project meetings, contractor meetings, etc. Takes a proactive role in all conflict resolution.
•Manages financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, change order authorization, income/expenses) to protect the company's interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with contractors.
•Ensures project meets design intent through testing, turnover of project files and record documents at project closure; captures lessons learned.
Job Requirements:
The qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field from an accredited college or university. Advanced technical or management degree preferred. The candidate should have 10 or more years of engineering/business experience, experience implementing project management information systems and/or other digital tools, and demonstrated capability to lead large scale projects(s). Must have an acute understanding of project management methodologies and processes, knowledge of cost and schedule functions of project management, and be capable of interrelating this with PM knowledge and skills. Construction and/or plant staff experience a plus. The candidate must know the "business of project management" and have extensive project management leadership skills.
