Educational/Experience Requirements:
This position requires two (2) years of college and three (3) years of experience in a Human Services field. Additional years of experience can substitute for college education at a ration of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of college beyond a minimum of a High School Diploma. This position requires strong organizational, mathematical and human-relations skills. It is preferred that the Program Advisor has experience in the Workforce Development arena and possesses the ability to work effectively with the public. Must have the ability to interpret and apply local, state, and federal program guidelines and regulations in order to determine customer eligibility and suitability for employment, education, and career preparation and/or training. Experience with test administration and interpretation is preferred. Must possess the ability to learn and apply complex program regulations to individual customer situations. Excellent interpersonal skills are required along with the ability to maintain professional, friendly relationships with all visitors to the One Stop Center, including job seekers, One Stop and state partner staff, and employers.
Must have the proven ability to articulate thoughts clearly on paper using proper grammar and punctuation and the ability to apply language rules. Proficiency in operating computerized software must be demonstrated. This includes word processing, database operations, and Internet applications. The Program Advisor is required to have excellent written, public speaking, and oral communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse customer base, establish effective relationships with customers, and accurately assess their needs. The ability to learn and apply techniques used in job seeking, career development, and information and referral is required.
