Our Accounting and Finance teams play an important role in keeping Gordon Food Service operating effectively and efficiently. From strategic work in the development of annual and long-range operating plans to establishing infrastructure that keeps financial transactions flowing efficiently (our employees and vendors like that!), to credit operations that recognize the unique positions of our customers large and small.....we are reliant on this group of professionals and the work they do each week, each month, each quarter.
Position Summary:
Adheres to and implements financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control. Supports the general ledger closing cycle, fixed asset management, inventory control management, financial statement reporting, and projects requiring financial knowledge.
Essential Functions:
* Adheres to corporate financial policies and applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting standards for private entities (ASPE).
* Responsible for Lease Accounting
* Ensures a high level of integrity is maintained within the general ledger and financial statements.
* Participates in month-end, quarter-end and year-end general ledger closing cycle and financial statement preparation including account reconciliation.
* Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries.
* Prepares ad-hoc reports and analyses in areas such as margin, operating expenses, budget variance, and statistical reports.
* Prepares and organizes data for audit.
* Assists in the development of the budget, planning and other corporate financial requirements.
* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Senior Leadership which may include: transportation and warehouse reporting, fixed asset reporting, lease administration, inventory cost analysis.
Our top candidates will have:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred
* 2-3 years related experience
* Or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with lease accounting is preferred
* Must have knowledge of general ledger accounting, cost accounting and analysis, accounting principles, and internal controls.
* Must know principles of analysis, reporting, and information valuation, must understand process improvement methodology, and be technologically adaptable.
* Experience manipulating large amounts of data.
