Job Description
The Senior HEV Fuel Cell Powertrain Engineer, as a part of the Powertrain Systems team, is responsible for the development of hybrid, electric, or hydrogen fuel cell powertrain systems and subsystems. This includes integration, build and testing of powertrain systems for HEV/EV/FCV vehicles. This is a hands-on position where the engineer will spend a lot of time working in powertrain system labs and vehicles.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop hybrid, battery electric, or hydrogen PEM fuel cell powertrain systems and integrate the systems into vehicles
• Keep abreast of technology trends of EV/HEV/FCV powertrain architectures and key components
• Collaborate closely with suppliers to develop key components
• Complete design cycles from concepts to fully validated production designs
• Perform powertrain system tests in dynamometer testing environment
• Support vehicle build and test in proving grounds and various terrains
• Develop and fabricate functional prototypes and test methods to vet out design concepts
Qualifications
• 5+ years of recent experience working in EV/HEV/FCV powertrain systems required
• Experience with EV/HEV/FCV powertrain system development, integration, and testing
• Strong understanding of powertrain component functionality
• Experience with electrical design, testing, and diagnosis
• Experience with making electrical power cables and harnesses
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in using Matlab/Simulink is a plus; Experience with electronic control system integration and troubleshooting is a plus
• Mechanical or Electrical (BSME or BSEE) required
