Safety Engineer
Key Role:
Apply a safety perspective to the design, development, documentation, analysis, performance, and developmental testing of prototype vehicles and major subsystems. Investigate and resolve operational safety issues in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Provide technical support and advice to other engineering groups. Devise and document mitigation strategies for potential safety issues identified during testing. Participate in the development, maintenance, and refinement of use cases and Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP). Act in a liaison capacity with US Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) for all safety-related issues. Evaluate progress and results and recommend major changes in procedures. Operate with considerable latitude for actions or decisions.
Basic Qualifications:
-5 years of experience as a vehicle safety engineer
-2 years of experience in working with US Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) or other nationally recognized test organization
-Ability to evaluate and identify safety issues in vehicle designs and test plans to recommend mitigation strategies
-Secret clearance
-BS degree in Engineering or Science
Additional Qualifications:
-Experience with safety related to vehicle prototype development and testing
-Knowledge of SAE and NHTSA safety and testing standards
-Knowledge of software safety standards
Clearance:
