HDR is looking for a Project Development Engineer to join our Power Generation Project Development Group which provides engineering consulting services to a variety of independent power producers, utilities, municipalities, institutions, and industrial clients located across the U.S. and abroad out of Ann Arbor, MI
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Project Development Engineer includes leading and supporting a variety of project development efforts involving feasibility studies, thermal performance assessments, economic lifecycle analyses, technology assessments, conceptual plant designs, due diligence assessments, and development of design basis documentation.
*Experience and understanding of thermal cycle performance modeling and analysis is required (exposure to Thermoflow modeling software a plus).
*Coordination of cost estimating and schedule development resources to support project analyses and reports. Support and/or participation in special studies, bid evaluations, integrated resource plan development, contract negotiations, project justification to client management, air permitting technical support, and site visits (for data gathering, construction status observation, performance testing, etc.) will also be expected.
*May serve as a Project Manager for study efforts and will be responsible for the coordination, quality, and timely completion of projects.
*Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers in the Project Development Group.
*May develop customer/client relations and be involved in marketing and proposal development efforts.
*Provide oversight, guidance, and quality checks of thermal performance modeling efforts.
*Conduct work sessions for conceptual designs or strategic planning in conjunction with other staff and clients.
*Coordinate and manage personal workload, commitments, and expectations through active communications.
*Track, coordinate, and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within agreed schedules and budgets.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
*PE license
*5 years related or equivalent experience in similar project development work and consulting.
*Experience/exposure to a variety of power generation technologies including combustion turbines, simple cycle, combined cycle, engine generators, combined heat and power, repowering, solar, wind, geothermal, energy storage, and steam power cycles is required.
*Candidate must have demonstrated leadership skills and a strong desire/ability to maintain a high standard of quality in project deliverables grounded in solid engineering fundamentals.
*Willingness to travel 10% - 20% of time and ability to travel both domestic and internationally is required.
