We at Leggett & Platt Automotive are looking for a Global Director of Planning to join our rapidly growing Automotive Team. We are a multi-billion-dollar globally diversified company that designs and manufactures various engineered components and products. Our growing automotive business unit, which exceeds one billion dollars in sales, is comprised of four main product segments with operations on three continents. Our customers include OEM and Tier 1 automotive companies. This position is based in Troy, MI.
In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Procurement & Supply Chain and be responsible for the planning and analysis of Leggett & Platt’s global inventory of finished goods, components and raw materials, managing both domestic and international planning issues.
You will contribute to and provide on-going leadership related to world class Supply Chain planning strategies – including the identification and implementation of best in class techniques and processes. You will drive planning excellence through the implementation of key processes, techniques, and tools – including process improvements and standardizations.
You’ll also work closely with the Procurement team to develop buy plans for all new products, with the Logistics team to coordinate and establish the most efficient movement of goods, and with Operations to optimize the Customer experience.

What you will be doing?
- You’ll influence organization strategies relating to ‘where to make’ and ‘where to store’ decisions, including balancing supply and demand over a monthly or multi-year planning horizon, to achieve optimum product availability, asset utilization, and overall efficiency.
- You’ll lead and facilitate the effective application of the S&OP process.
- You’ll lead the development of a Supply Chain Planning strategy and collaborate with Procurement, Logistics and Finance to develop short and long term plans, to optimize equipment utilization and reduce the need of working capital.
- You’ll lead and manage the Global Planning team, providing regular goals, performance feedback and coaching to help the team meet their requirements.
- You’ll direct responsibility for and improving upon best in class performance in forecasting, inventory levels, service levels and inventory turns.
- You’ll assist in the development, implementation, and management of strategic and tactical demand planning processes and systems.
- You’ll manage a $100M inventory of finished goods, components and raw materials. Deliver on inventory targets and commitments.
- You’ll build and maintain communication channels among all operational groups within the Supply Chain through information sharing, thought leadership, and tactical and strategic planning.
- You’ll develop the team to increase control and accountability at the Manager and Analyst level of the organization.
- You’ll lead the supplier allocation process that determines the best supplier to have a model built based on cost and quality.
- You’ll have responsibility for lean initiatives from the Planning perspective to ensure the broad goal of overall supply chain is benefiting from the improvements.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Finance or another related field.
- MBA with quantitative background or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered).
- The ability to internalize and espouse the Behaviors and Beliefs of Leggett & Platt Automotive, leading by example always
- Previous analytic qualification or experience is essential.
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role; 10+ years total relevant work experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas (or combination thereof):
- Automotive industry
- Manufacturing
- Logistics and Supply Chain
- Experience working in a US Multi-national company will be considered a plus.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all cross functional teams.
- Leadership building and development with large teams, domestic and foreign.
- Strong ability to move between tactical and strategic aspects of business.
- Proven ability to set direction, clearly articulate a strong point of view and influence others.
- Previous Experience with ERP systems. MS365 and/or JDA is a PLUS
