Job Description
Purpose:
With direction from the Manager of Continuous Improvement, the Lean Champion initiates and leads Continuous Improvement projects and Kaizen activities at Tubelite. The Lean Champion is a key leader of Tubelite's lean journey and transformation. The Lean Champion trains, coaches, and mentors employees in the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve business processes and achieve Continuous Improvement objectives.
Essential Duties:
•Organizes and facilitates Lean activities like Kaizen events and CI projects using multidisciplinary teams.
•Supports CI events in the implementation of Lean Enterprise principles; prepares to support CI events or projects by scheduling process downtime and securing support of other functions such as Maintenance and IT.
•Help eliminate waste and reduces variation by streamlining key value streams and business processes.
•Manages and communicates progress and the results of all assigned Lean/CI projects; celebrates Lean/CI successes.
•Performs on-going audits of assigned areas to ensure best practice implementations and to identify opportunities for improvement.
•Foster an environment which promotes Tubelite's Core Values, Apogee's Code of Conduct and customer value.
•Actively pursues ongoing education in Lean Enterprise and Continuous Improvement principles through literature, courses, networking, and benchmarking.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 4 years of experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement principles using techniques such as Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Standardized Work, and Visual Management.
OR
Associate's Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement principles using techniques such as Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Standardized Work, and Visual Management.
•Travel to Tubelite locations and/or Apogee to support events; work off-shifts as needed.
•Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional team and lead others in a positive manner by coaching them to achieve standards and reach team goals.
•Excellent interpersonal skills as evidenced by the ability to develop strong working relationships with employees at all levels in the organization and coach, mentor, and lead them.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by the ability to create and deliver presentations.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access as well as ERP and database systems. Must be able to learn additional software as necessary
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects.
•Experience in a manufacturing environment.
