Department Summary
The Lead Software Developer reports within the Equipment, Materials and Software (EM&S) Section of the Substation Design and Standards (SD&S) Division. The SD&S Division is one of several discipline specific engineering and design organizations within the Electric Transmission and High Voltage Distribution Engineering (ET&HVDE) Department. This specific Technical Analyst team develops, maintains, and supports applications that serve the various production processes within the ET&HVDE Department. These processes include, but are not limited to, electric substation, electric lines, controls and instrumentation engineering and design production processes. Drawing packages suitable for field construction are one of the primary deliverables from these processes. Equipment and materials specification development and requisitioning services are other significant workflows within the EM&S Section of the ET&HVDE Department.
Job Description/Responsibilities
The Lead Software Developer will perform complex analytical, technical, and administrative tasks related to support of engineering process workflows as well as application development, enhancement, maintenance, documentation and end user support using a variety of development tools and platforms combined with advanced skills. This position will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining data quality in several corporate databases in addition to completing equipment, materials, and software related or otherwise assigned work. This role supports critical maintenance and production goals through software application related work. Additionally, the role supports essential processes and applications related to compliance requirements, e.g., document life cycle management, the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) rules.
The following is a partial list of the applications the position will support: Time Management System, Drawing Management System, Substation Database, SPCC, Engineering Report, ECB, Civil Drawing Index, Manufacturer Drawing Index, Circuit List, Nameplate 2.0, I&C Telcom, AC Load Calc, DC Load Calc, Transformer Loading Capability, Infrastructure Attachment, Class 12, Major Equipment Database, and Construction List. These applications and others form a suite of tools the department employs to meet our Customer commitments. The successful candidate will need to be a bold, creative, and adaptive team contributor and Leader.
In addition to the software developer and maintenance production role, the Lead Software Developer is expected to supervise four direct reports; two that focus on the department's software needs, and two that focus on department's records needs.Workload planning, performance administration, general supervision, and overall guided Leadership for the software group are expected.
The ideal candidate would bring design experience, planning and application development skills to the table in addition to some supervisory experience. The role may be called upon to support emergency storm restoration activities.
Required Qualifications
•A Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical field with less than 1 year of experience. (OR) Associate's degree in a scientific/technical field with 2 years of experience in the specific field. •1 Year of experience with 1 or more of the following software programs:
