Hours: 7am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri
Pay: $15/hr or more depending on experience
JOB DUTIES:
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Verify components for MIG welding per specifications.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic MIG welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
- Inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
- Reorder any parts that are below re-order point using the Kanban system.
- Report any inventory discrepancies to the Supervisor.
- Perform daily housekeeping at the end of each shift.
- Ability to meet physical demands and perform the essential job functions within the work environment identified in this job description.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 1+ year experience operating as a MIG welder.
- Current and valid certification or apprenticeship strongly preferred.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi task.
- Ability to read and understand the daily schedule.
- Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, and diagram form.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and be able to move about in a manufacturing and fabricating environment.
- Operate computer, machinery, tools, vehicles and industrial equipment and must have the ability to use hands to move, set up, adjust, assemble, control, test, operate, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Constantly communicate and exchange information with team members and must be able to effectively communicate correct information with vendors.
- Read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, reasoning and analytical abilities, and mental flexibility.
- Frequently move objects up to 60 pounds.
- Use a hand truck to move loads up to 200 pounds and on occasion up to 2000 pounds.
- The employee will constantly climb, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach above shoulder when working with equipment, material loading and unloading, and other related tasks.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus to compare and distinguish material grades and administrative data.
- Hearing ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking level with or without correction.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working indoors in metal fabrication and manufacturing facility which has controlled environmental conditions.
- Exposure to hazardous materials, extreme heat, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Requires wearing common protective and safety equipment.
- Position may involve extended work hours.
- Exposure to sound and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
