The Quality organization is currently seeking a highly skilled, solutions-oriented World Class Manufacturing Specialist in Early Product Management and Quality Control to join the Quality team at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan. The Specialist is responsible for supporting all areas of New Product Launch within Quality Control in achieving key performance objectives for new product launches. The selected individual will have experience in Product Engineering, Lean Manufacturing and Quality Control with a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing and quality landscape. The candidate must be high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions — a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and implements solutions for new product introduction within manufacturing. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.
The specific responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
•Feedforward Design Practices — Check List Creation
•Create, maintain and manage the Proactive Quality Assurance Matrix
•Attend and Contribute to the Workplace Integration process
•Attend, support and provide input during the Digital Scroll Process
•Maintain and monitor key program launch key activity indicators; communicate performance and corrective actions to appropriate team members
•Support production centers (body, paint, assembly) and monitor critical operations in conjunction with management team; develop actions to improve as appropriate during pilot builds and launch
•Verify Error & Mistake Proofing (EMP) countermeasures are functioning for new programs
•Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure coverage is fed forward
•Display effective communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
•Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
•Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
•Represent the “Voice of the Customer” to the platform teams
•Drive team success by clarifying expectations and minimizing political hurdles
•Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
•Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations, Quality, or Manufacturing
•Manufacturing experience in a union environment
•Demonstrated planning/problem solving skills
•Experience and working knowledge of computer systems and software
•Ability to work a flexible shift schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
•Project Management experience
•Previous experience working in a union environment
•Background in LEAN Manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem solving techniques
