Summary
The Natural Resources Lead/Renewables oversees the land associated with 14 hydro facilities including Ludington Pumped Storage. This role ensures the Company is in compliance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hydro licenses including the land management plan. Additionally, is unique in that it is one of a few that works through the development, construction, and operations of wind generation. This position will manage four employees: CWEP Wind Land Manager, Gratiot Farms Wind Land Manager, Hydro Land Manager and Hydro Forester, and any future hires to support wind land management. Also will manage temporary wind land manager contractors hired to assist with construction.
Job Description/Responsibilities
•Manage all of the land associated with 13 river Hydros and the Ludington Pumped Storage Plant.
•Manage approximately 16,000 acres including the Company's Hydro forestry and recreation assets.
•Regularly meet with FERC, USFS, MDNR, USFWS, and other local/State/Federal commissions and organizations.
•Develop and manage all construction projects associated with recreation including contractor management and construction oversite.
•Implement and manage Hydro GIS/GPS systems, including forest inventory, webGIS, and all handheld devices.
•Represent land management as part of FERC relicensing of Ludington Pumped Storage Plant.
•Manage the land resources, including leased recreation sites, timber, and the lease for the barrier net dock area with Oxy-Chem associated with the Ludington Pumped Storage Plant.
•Provide public relations, media, and marketing support for Hydro and develop Hydro related volunteer events.
•Manage all landowners for the Lake Winds Energy Park, Cross Winds Energy Park, and Gratiot Farms and potentially up to five more wind farms as part of the 2018 RFP for wind.
•Develop and manage current wind farm complaint process for both Lake Winds and Cross Winds Energy Park, and any process developed for new wind assets.
•Propose and review all uses of landowner property and the parcels to be acquired for the development of specific facilities associated with the wind farm (laydown, O&M building, and substation).
•Conduct all land management activities for Lake Winds Energy Park (CWEP and Gratiot handled by employee's managed by this position) including complete wind farm facility evaluation/landowner consent, crop damage evaluation/negotiation, and assist CE/EPC on all phases of wind farm development, construction, and operations.
Requirements/Qualifications
•5 or more years of Natural Resources experience.
•A Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of study. Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
•Real Estate Salesperson License.
