POSITION TITLE: Medical Director / Psychiatrist
POSITION STATUS: Full-time: 80 hours biweekly, or ¾ time: 60 hours biweekly, or Part-time: 40 hours biweekly
CLASSIFICATION: If employed, this will be a Non-Union, Exempt position. Some duties may also be completed under a Contract Status
MEDICAL DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES: This position directly supervises the Psychiatrists, Physicians, and Nurse Practitioners. This positon may also provide clinical supervision and direction to the Nursing Supervisor and agency Nurses. Responsibilities include working in partnership with Executive Leadership, Clinical Supervisors, Access, Utilization Management, and other Pathways staff and community agencies to ensure that recipients of all ages and disabilities receive access to appropriate and effective services and supports according to recognized standards and regulations. Additional responsibilities include providing second opinions; participating in the Credentialing and Privileging of the Pathways Medical Staff; participating in local appeals and ALJ hearings; conducting BCBS and Peer reviews; reviewing all deaths and sentinel events; and reviewing clinical/medical policies and procedures.
PSYCHIATRIST RESPONSIBILITIES: This position’s responsibilities include providing psychiatric assessment and treatment to Pathways recipients. Duties include completing psychiatric assessments and making treatment recommendations; providing medication assessment, prescription and reassessment; coordinating services with other Pathways professional staff, programs or agencies as needed; and collaborating with case managers/therapist/RN/Physicians in the treatment of adults and/or children with a severe mental illness, severe emotional disturbance or a developmental disability.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have graduated from an accredited Medical School and completed a Psychiatric Residency. Must have at least five (5) years of experience in providing community mental health services with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Must also have experience successfully consulting with health care providers in different community settings. Applicants must be State of Michigan Licensed to practice Medicine and be Board Certified in Psychiatry.
