Position Overview:
The CQEM is responsible for managing, articulating, implementing and enforcing Quality Management Systems for Amcor PET Packaging North America facilities. Collects, interprets and acts upon the key metrics and measures of quality that determine achievement of division quality goals and objectives, and directs improvement actions on an accelerated basis. Develops and mentors a team of outstanding professional quality managers at the plant level, providing consistency of objectives, processes, and purpose. Represents the company and communicates its Quality Vision to the entire organization and to key customers. Focuses upon prevention, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
•Builds, refines, and improves, together with operational management, comprehensive, organization-wide, prevention-oriented Quality Management Systems.
•Develops and administers performance measurement and benchmarking programs for assessing the Cost of Quality, such as cost of prevention (quality planning, product control plans, process controls, training, etc.), cost of assessment (purchased materials, inspection, testing, audits), cost of internal failure (scrap, rework, purchasing), and cost of external failure (warranty costs, service, and claims liability). Determines, implements and directs programs to systematically reduce the cost of poor quality.
•Audits and prepares operational facilities for audits according to customer and regulatory requirements for product safety and good manufacturing practices.
•Assesses and establishes priorities for organizational development training programs and participates in process analysis, high-level problem solving, etc.
•Articulates with integrity the vision for Quality Management to customers and suppliers.
•Advises senior business managers with respect to integration of Total Quality Management into Manufacturing and Business models.
•Serves as primary contact for selected national customers, providing support and administrative services, interfacing with customer corporate procurement and supplier quality. Generates dashboards as required and directs corrective and preventive action investigations across a multiple Amcor plant production sites.
•May have and manage team of direct reports and is responsible for employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management. Responsible for overall talent management and employee engagement; cultivates an environment of safety, high performance, and ethical and legal compliance; addresses employee relations issues
Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Engineering experience in Plastics Packaging Technologies and Quality Engineering is preferred.
•10 or more years of experience in plastics and/or packaging or other high speed, high volume conversion processes in a production environment, experience in designing and implementing advanced Quality Management Systems is preferred.
•Professional Accreditation in Quality Engineering and Systems required
•Professional development and continuing education, such as Six Sigma or involvement in professional societies
•Advanced, mastery level knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies, Process Capability, and Designed Experiment procedures
•Demonstrated ability to articulate corporate vision with regards to quality with ability to match that vision to action
•Must have professional demeanor and ability to work effectively across responsibility levels in internal and external organizations
•Excellent communication skills with high level of competency in documenting and knowledge sharing
•Well-developed organizational skills and be self-starting, self-motivating and able to work under minimal supervision.
