Position Summary:
HARMAN's diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices. As a member of our team, your primary role will be to expose the Intern to Sourcing fundamentals while also working through projects. This position Intern reports to a Sourcing Manager within the Americas Sourcing organization. The Sourcing Intern may interact with several internal departments outside of Sourcing including Engineering, Finance, Operations, Plants, and may also interact with external suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing
•Provide analytical support for Global Strategic Sourcing on assigned projects and ad hoc requests
Analyze spend data to identify issues and opportunities in support of sourcing initiatives and projects
Assist in developing and rolling out new Global Contract System.
Deliver a comprehensive strategic sourcing project from research/analysis, facilitating, and summarizing conclusions and planning next steps
Procurement Operations
•Review processes and work instructions within Direct Procurement to validate consistent compliance across all business divisions (transparency and issues/opportunities within Procurement)
•Analyze transactional volumes within Indirect Procurement to recommend optimal guided buying channels/purchasing strategies
•Analyze SAP Information Records globally to identify gaps in maintenance/data accuracy. Deliver a recommendation on steps to assure pricing is kept current.
•Implement a comprehensive operational project with compliance validation measures
Basic Qualifications:
•Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited institution as a Junior or Senior taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
•Completed courses with a business focus (Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, etc.)
•Entry level work experience
•Strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders and executives
•Strong MS Office skills, specifically Excel to be able to create pivot tables and graphs
•Ability to work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Eligibility Requirements:
•Must provide full work availability from May 20, 2019 through August 9, 2019 and be able to work 40 hours per week
•Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work
•Must be able to work Monday through Friday in an office located in Novi, Michigan
