Position Summary:
HARMAN's diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices. As a member of our team, your primary role will be to support the Best Cost Analytics team through the creation of tools and databases that can be used to improve the efficiency of HARMAN's cost modeling efforts and improve the ability to effectively analyze/visualize the data used to build cost models.
Job Responsibilities:
•Automation of cost model generation to account for multiple currencies and multiple regions
Creation of database(s) and associated scripts that would enable automatic population of the database using cost model data
Creation of tools/methods to analyze and visualize cost model database data
Creation of database(s) to store cost model input data including labor rates, foreign currency exchange rates, machine rates, etc.
Creation of database(s) to store electronic component data including pricing data
Creation of documents & training to enable others to use databases and tools that have been created
Basic Qualifications:
•Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited institution having completed your Sophmore year or later, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
•Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA
•Must have taken courses in scripting languages such as Python or VBA. Strong experience with Excel and databases (e.g., SQL) is highly beneficial.
•Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders and executives
•Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Eligibility Requirements:
•Willingness to work in an office in Novi, MI
•Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work
•Must provide full work availability from May 20, 2019 through August 9, 2019 and be able to work 40 hours per week
•Highly prefer candidates who live within a commutable distance
•Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
