The Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula (CFUP) and its affiliate The Community Foundation for Delta County (CFFDC) are seeking an Executive Director to continue our mission of expanding our capacity to serve our communities. The Executive Director is the key leader of the foundations and is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the foundations. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach. The position reports directly to the CFUP Board of Directors, and will work out of the CFFDC office in Escanaba, Michigan.
CFUP includes 9 affiliate foundations across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. CFFDC is the largest of the affiliates. The mission of CFUP and each of its affiliates is to make the communities where they reside a better place to work, play, and live. To date, CFUP has net assets of over $28 million, with CFFDC holding approximately 65% ($18 million) of those assets.
We are seeking motivated, self-driven candidates that are connected with the people and the communities of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Responsibilities:
1) Serve as Executive Director of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula (CFUP) and the Community Foundation for Delta County (CFFDC).
2) Work with the Board of Trustees and staff of each affiliate in order to fulfill the Foundation’s mission.
3) Develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
4) Build and maintain relationships with donors, professional, civic and private organizations, and community members.
5) Manage office operations and administrative staff.
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor degree
2) High integrity leadership abilities
3) Ability to convey a vision of the Foundation’s goals to staff, Board, and donors
4) Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations
5) Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent listening skills
6) Ability to interface and engage with diverse donor groups
7) Financial acumen and knowledge of financial markets
8) Ability to professionally represent the Foundation to the media and the general public
9) Management and marketing experience preferred
10) Ability to travel (occasionally).
