Responsible for benefit plan analytics (analyst role) including predictions/trending, audit support, union employee negotiations, rate case support and benchmarking studies. Other duties will include financial analysis of benefit plan costs and department budgeting, along with reconciliation of benefit plan accounting procedures and VEBA distributions. Another aspect of the job will be the analysis, design and maintenance of benefit plan participant records (technical analyst) as needed in SAP and with 3rd party vendor systems (Fidelity interfaces, participant eligibility files, etc), including support of technical upgrades and plan changes within the applicable systems.
Responsibilities:
•Extract, analyze and problem solve data through demand reporting, data mining and claims cost analysis to recommend, develop and implement innovative plan designs and manage company/plan financial interests (union contract negotiations, future trending and risk management, etc). Work with and analyze complex data including demography, claims experience, financial performance, budget projections, health delivery systems and other benefit related issues (benefits analyst).
•Provide technical support for participant records and benefit plan related systems (including SAP and 3rd party vendor systems). This includes troubleshooting transmission errors and resolution of data discrepancies based on deep understanding of system functionality, as well as auditing of existing data to ensure accuracy/integrity of participant records. (tech analyst)
•Provide support for relevant project work including ACA reporting/regulatory updates, annual enrollment, union contract negotiations and rate cases, and lead/support benefit plan audit and related information requests (benefits/tech analyst)
•Prepare company financial reports (including 5500's), analyze trends and recommend actions to support benefit plans, including oversight of departmental and plan associated budgets and reconciliation of claim payments and VEBA distributions. May include assistance with vendor payments and departmental scorecards. (benefits analyst)
•Act as liaison between client and 3rd party vendors regarding contract, service and coverage issues, including contract renewals, service level guarantees, and renegotiations. This includes facilitation of resolution of participant billing and claim questions (benefits analyst).
•Administer benefit plan provisions (example: educational assistance reimbursement, Medicare marketplace, and life insurance premium continuation) (benefits/tech analyst)
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of study. Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
•5+ years in benefits or human resources
