Under the direction of the Quality Manager the Quality Engineer is responsible for technical quality and manufacturing root cause analysis problem solving and ISO 9000 initiatives and improvements.
Responsibilities :
•Organize, analyze and implement all quality initiatives and systems for the site to accomplish departmental and corporate goals and objectives.
•Ensure compliance to all of the company's manufacturing and product specifications
•Maintain and improve customer satisfaction through customer focus, corrective/preventive actions, advanced product quality planning (APQP) and continuous improvement.
•Focus on scrap and rework reductions.
•Utilize statistical tools and CAD/product drawings for problem solving and continuous improvement in a lean manufacturing environment.
•Drive implementation of containment, corrective, preventive actions, and follow up activities.
•Review product specifications to present/recommended plant capabilities and improve quality assurance/control and process capability as necessary.
•Drives source inspection philosophy to key personnel in organization.
•Implements a cost-effective quality management system that minimizes Quality risks to the customer, maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
•Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
•Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials and products
•Assist Purchasing Department efforts in Supplier Quality Assurance and provide input/criteria for supplier sourcing and PPAP activities.
•Implements and improves upon ISO efforts.
•Implements quality control training programs to key personnel in conjunction with plant supervision to support the plant's quality program which achieves meeting or exceeding customer requirements
•Respond to customer complaints by directing containment, root cause investigations, corrective action and follow up and resolution with the customer.
•Participates and/or leads daily Quality Wall process.
•Ensure quality requirements are clearly communicated in standard work.
•Measurements (metrics) - communicates performance to direct reports group.
•Knowledge of SPC, Capability Studies, Gage R&R and Sampling plans. Familiarity with PFMEA.
•Manage PPAP and quality process analysis for launch, cost reduction, quality improvement activities and efficiency improvement.
Qualifications :
•Must have verifiable experience with problem solving techniques (8D, 5 Why & Root Cause Analysis).
•Must have experience with statistical techniques and data analysis.
•Must have excellent communication skills with ability to interface directly with hourly employees as well as upper level management concerning quality initiatives and progress updates.
•Promote teamwork during problem solving.
•Must possess a high energy level with a strong work ethic.
•Prefer candidate with CAD experience.
•Good PC skills with knowledge of Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.
•Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technical degree required.
•2-5 yrs. manufacturing experience
•Automotive experience preferred
