The Quality organization is currently seeking a seeking a talented Quality Reliability Engineer within the Systems and Components Quality Reliability Engineering group in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Quality Reliability Engineer will be the point person for reliable development of chassis systems. The selected candidate will be responsible identification of high risk systems and components early in the vehicle development program and applying the appropriate risk mitigation techniques. This position will be responsible for ensuring launch readiness of new technologies within specified vehicle program timelines. The position is also responsible for ensuring that lessons learned from past experiences are institutionalized in current engineering processes.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
•Responsible for the execution of new reliability process on electronic control systems and other systems
•Partner with engineering to deliver systemic improvements through the implementation of Quality 2.0
•Support the institutionalization of lessons learned from regulatory, warranty, and other sources through updates to core documents such as engineering specifications, DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s, and design best practices
•Be the single point of contact and applications of, and revisions to, several different engineering specifications and multiple support documents
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Or Electrical Engineering
•Experience working with or leading diverse teams (e.g. global, cross-functional, union/union represented, etc.)
•Basic understanding of vehicle interior and electronic systems and components and their functions
•Basic computing skills covering standard office software
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting to various types of audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Reliability, or a related field or significant applied experience
•Certified Quality or Reliability Engineer
•Design for Six Sigma or Robust Engineering certification (Black Belt, Green Belt)
•Minimum 3 years’ experience in product, quality, or reliability engineering
•Familiarity with quality measurement methodology, warranty analysis, and third party metrics (Consumer Reports, J.D. Power)
