Job Summary
Location: Detroit, Michigan
This is a professional position providing accounting and financial support to the DTE Energy Resources group of companies. Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgement, initiative and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
Prepares journal entries at all levels of complexity within Company closing schedule
Performs account reconciliations at all levels of complexity
Monitors the general ledger and accounting systems that contain the financial records and databases
Completes monthly closing of books within timeframe to comply with holding company closing requirements
Prepares and fully understand the billing and accounting for various projects as defined in the various project agreements
Identifies issues and raises to the appropriate level
Prepares the financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Prepares monthly management reports communicating the financial performance of the companies and variances from the budget
Prepares independent audit schedules as required
Participates in the development of budgets and projections
Reviews contracts, ensuring accounting activities are in compliance with GAAP
Understands and adheres to internal control policies and procedures
Maintains relationships with other DTE Energy affiliate companies
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with zero to two years of experience in accounting, with preference given to individuals with knowledge of, and experience with, DTE's accounting and financial processes.
Other Qualifications
Preferred:
Certified Public Accountant accreditation a plus
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines
Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
Ability to establish and maintain confidential and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management, and external clients

Working Conditions
The employee performs job duties in a climate-controlled office environment, with a moderate noise level and occasionally travels to site locations that may not be climate-controlled. Employee must live within a commutable distance from DTE's Detroit, Michigan headquarters, however, the majority of work will be performed from a home office.
