The Refrigerant System Design Lead is responsible for development and maintenance of all compressors, ac lines, and chiller core documents and specifications. This includes all PF specifications, DFEMAs, DVP&Rs, and global harmonized documents related to compressors, ac lines, and chillers. The Refrigerant System Design Lead will work with Designers, and Release Engineers to develop and publish FCA Design Practices (DPs). The Refrigerant System Design Lead is responsible for advanced program packaging. The designs must meet packaging objectives for clearances, pressure drop, service, and manufacturing. The Refrigerant System Design Lead shall serve as a mentor to Design Release Engineers and assist in their design and development of compressor, ac lines and chillers throughout the FCA CPCP process. The Design Lead shall review and approve Source Packages and lead technical reviews with suppliers. The Design Lead is responsible for maintaining all DAC, DR, SEA development and design checklists and program scorecards. The Refrigerant System Design Lead shall assist in determination of root cause of current refrigerant system production issues using Reactive and Design for Six Sigma techniques. Travel as required to assembly plants and suppliers within NAFTA region.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
•Minimum of 8 years engineering experience required
•4 years of HVAC experience required (Other compressor, ac lines, HVAC design experience, fuel lines, cooling lines, HVAC Modules, etc. considered)
•Proven track record of leadership and teamwork in the design and release of automotive components
•Experience with NX and Teamcenter
•Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
•Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
•Self-starter and motivated to produce results and stay on schedule
•Excellent proven leadership skills
•Proficient in Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
Preferred qualifications:
•Seven years in HVAC with extensive knowledge of refrigerant systems
•Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
•Experience with root cause analysis
•Automotive assembly plant experience
