The Vehicle Crash Technician will fabricate, assemble, and disassemble electronic instruments used in testing vehicles. The Technician will also calibrate, repair, and test such instruments to ensure they function and measure properly. Responsibilities will include fabricating and installing fixtures, bucks, and other fastening devices necessary to permit the installation of instruments in various test conditions. The Vehicle Crash Technician works extensively in preparing and disassembling instruments for vehicle crash testing. He/she must be able to build vehicles and crash vehicles with data acquisition boxes, break out boxes, string accelerometers, string pots and other equipment. This individual must have knowledge in vehicle diagnostic tools and understand vehicle wiring diagrams.
Basic Qualifications:
•Associate’s degree
•Two or more years of electrical and/or electronics experience
•Basic computer skills utilizing MS Office
•Ability to work in a team environment
•Excellent communication skills
•Valid driver’s license
•Flexible to work on 1st, 2nd shift and/or 3rd shift (if needed), holidays, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
•Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or similar discipline
•State certified in electrical systems
•Experience troubleshooting instrumentation and control problems in an automotive test lab environment
•Automotive industry experience
