General Information
The Calumet Operating Area of TransCanada's ANR Pipeline requires a Pipeline technician to work at the Bridgman, Michigan Compressor Station and surrounding area. The successful candidate will work on a team that operates and maintains a high pressure natural gas pipeline system, gas engine-driven compressor station, gas measurement facilities, and other related facilities. This position is overtime eligible and extended work hours including nights and weekends may be required on occasion without advance notice.
Responsibilities
The primary duties associated with this entry level position include:
* Ensure facilities and vehicles are maintained and operated safely in compliance with TransCanada's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards;
* Operation, maintenance and repair of reciprocating and centrifugal compression, valves and operators, regulators, relief valves, blow down purging and pressurization of pipelines and stations, performing line locates on company pipelines, troubleshooting and testing of gas process measurement equipment and control systems within company operating procedures;
* Perform mechanical maintenance on large-bore reciprocating engine and gas compressors including heads, pistons, rings, liners, pins, bushing, and bearings;
* Plan, coordinate and perform maintenance activities, including routine corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements and major maintenance projects;
* Respond to one call tickets, perform pipeline locates and monitor encroachment activities on TransCanada facilities in accordance with company procedures;
* Actively participates in a team environment by acquiring and applying required qualifications, supporting the development of team members, performing administrative duties and assisting with budgeting, planning, problem solving, prioritization and decision making processes;
* Analyze engine performance reports, initiate corrective action to review and improve maintenance procedures;
* Read, interpret and update drawings and schematics (P&ID and electrical);
* Properly use a variety of hand and power tools;
* Utilize computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering and filing of various forms;
* Performs other tasks as defined by the team, and maintains general housekeeping and appearance of assigned team facilities;
* Provide multi-skilled maintenance support with other technicians in the completion of pipeline, mechanical repairs on reciprocating compressor units;
* Provide multi-skill pipeline operations and maintenance tasks, including response to state one-call system; pipeline rectifier inspections;
* Participate in a formal on-call rotation;
* Perform emergency preparedness duties;
* Utilize effective planning/scheduling techniques in conjunction with TransCanada s Work Management processes. Utilize automated maintenance systems to generate work orders and enter appropriate technical findings and issue technical reports as required;
* Participate in the establishment and achievement of area operational objectives;
* Other tasks as required.

* Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment;
* Utilize computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering, and filing of various forms;
* Experience with controls and measurement systems and instrumentation including but not limited to: pressure, temperature, flow, and vibration transmitters, gas and fire detection, pressure regulating equipment and valve operators;
* Ability to troubleshoot, operate and maintain turbine driven gas compressors, standby generators, low pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, cooler fans and gear boxes, valves and operators and other auxiliary equipment;
* Candidate must exhibit a sense of urgency, individual responsibility and a willingness to accept constantly changing priorities;
