Position Description:
Execute the role of Engineering Project Manager (EPM) for the Abrams Lethality Upgrade (SEPv4) Program with focus on Subcontractor design, development, products and test. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Provides customer and stakeholder interface for major Subcontractors (including technical, performance, cost, schedule and risk)
* Negotiate, or supports negotiations, of technical requirements, scope and Subcontract deliverables
* Ensure all EDT obligations are clearly identified to successfully meet technical, cost and schedule commitments negotiated by the Subcontractor
* Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded
* Disseminate communications to all stakeholders and keeps management informed on status
2. Plan and Control all assigned projects efforts to ensure they meet cost, schedule and technical performance requirements
* With general guidance from management, plans milestones schedule, and readjust the schedule when the situation changes
* Reviews new or revised processes and templates and updates IPP as needed
* Prepares, reviews and approves Subcontract Management BCRs
* Manages Subcontractor corrective actions to closure
* Knows, and reports, the status of Subcontract Management performance; tracks/monitor EVMS and develops any necessary corrective actions
* Provides day-to-day project execution oversight and guidance to major Subcontractors
3. Lead the development of engineering change proposals to suppliers.
* Verify supplier estimate(s) and complete 'should cost' assessment
4. Subcontract Resource Management
* Ensures project unique resources are identified, developed, modified and deployed to across cross-functional team's to ensure efficient project execution
* Assigns technical task to team members based on project requirements (with support from functional management)
* Provides day to day technical leadership and guidance to team personnel
* Assesses work progress and determines "work-arounds" where required
* Reviews team work products and coordinates/facilitates internal reviews
* Develops and fosters a cohesive team
* Ensures team members know their duties and responsibilities of one another
* Ensures the team accomplishes their work efficiently and effectively
5. Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Experience in design, development and integration of military vehicles.
Understands and can access technical risk to develop corrective actions and/or mitigation plans.
Experience developing engineering proposals (a plus).
Must have excellent analytical, planning and problem solving skills.
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, follow up on assigned projects and meet deadlines.
Must have excellent business acumen and be innovative and creative when resolving issues.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Leadership and management understanding and experience with IPTs/SEIT (a plus).
Experience managing efforts of SA related major subcontractors (a plus).
Demonstrated experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and Lotus required.
Proficiency in Oracle or other database applications proficiency desired.
Must be willing and able to perform domestic and international travel.
