Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines from an accredited institution: Mechanical Engineering to Materials Engineering
Minimum 3 years casting simulation or thermal analysis, or stress/strain finite element analysis or computational fluid dynamics analysis and advanced CAD experience required.
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
A Masters or PhD Degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering.
Minimum of three years industrial experience.
The ability to set up and analyze fluid flow, heat transfer and stress/strain analyses of Arconic Engines' manufacturing processes.
Extensive working knowledge of ProCAST, finite element analysis, DEFORM, and/or computational fluid dynamics.
Computer programming skills: python and/or c/c or fortran programming experience, xml, experience with Access,, MySQL relational databases and MS Office Tools. Linux user experience/system admin experience a plus.
Basic knowledge of investment casting manufacturing process and/or hot forming processes.
Experience with JMatPro (or other CALPHAD computer software)
Knowledge and training in physical metallurgy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical skills.
Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment.
Strong organizational skills.

Development and improvement of the procedures, boundary conditions, material databases and application of process modeling for investment casting foundry applications.
Expanding application of general heat transfer and fluid dynamics modeling applications within Howmet Engines.
Constructing and solving large 3-D finite element models using supplied electronic data for prediction and reduction of defects in single crystal and directionally solidified castings.
