Performs manual machining of molds and parts using mills, drills, grinders, and lathes ? including hand fitting of cavities, cores, and components; and polishing of tools.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Performs conventional machining, including the following:
a. Lathe work – turning, drilling, threading
b. Tool Sharpening
c. Mill work
d. Surface grinding
e. Welding
f. Drilling
g. Tapping/Threading
h. Polishing
2. Performs his/her own setups
3. Works with Mold Makers to understand which tools and parts are to be machined, and in what order they are scheduled
4. Works with Mold Makers to ensure the proper steps are followed
5. Inspects workpieces, including mic’s, calipers, and height gauges
6. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
1. Must meet one of the following Education and Experience requirements:
a. Associates Degree in a technical discipline plus 5 to 8 years of machining experience; OR
b. High School Diploma or GED plus 8 to 10 years of machining experience
2. Machining experience within a plastic injection mold making facility is preferred)
3. Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
