- Approval by the State Department of Education as a school social worker.
- Master’s Degree in Social Work.
- One year of experience in school social work practice in a school setting which can include master’s level social work internship.
- Knowledge and theoretical content in treatment modes for school social work practice.
- Demonstrated skills and successful experience in counseling/therapy with individuals, groups of students, and their families.
- Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates which directly affect school social work services and special education.
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators, staff, agencies, medical providers, students and their families.
- Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks.
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve within a team of service providers.
