Primary Task

The primary function of this position is clean, maintain and sanitize production and packaging machinery, process equipment, systems, tools and work areas, in adherence to the strictest standards of AIB standards, food safety, health, safety and hygiene, in a timely manner according to set schedule and in priority or emergency situations observing all safety regulations ensuring GMP and quality standards are met and maintained.

 Essential Functions

• Obtain work schedule and daily production paperwork and prepare for operations.
• Report to assigned work-station, ensure all necessary tools, equipment, supplies and materials are available in staging areas.
• Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear and perform a safety check on equipment to be used in the daily operations and insure that all safety devices are functioning properly.
• Complete Dry Clean, Wet Clean, COP, CIP, and Allergen Clean tasks in Packaging, Processing and Production areas.
• LOTO production equipment, cover electrical equipment with plastic bags / wrap as required.
• Collect waste and other material from floor with squeegee, shovel, broom, dustpan and place into appropriate tub or trash barrels.
• Disassemble production equipment, conveyors, mixers, fillers, hoppers and other machinery and remove guards as required.
• Manually pull, scrape, wipe, shovel and dump waste from equipment and place waste material into tubs as required.
• Rinse conveyor belts, rollers, hoppers, buckets, tubs, etc. with pressure water hose.
• Obtain chemicals from storage area and fill and prepare foamer, manually apply chemicals to appropriate machinery, tools and equipment with foamer-sprayer as required, follow all chemical handling requirements including Usage, Labeling, and Titration levels.
• Scrub machinery, tools and equipment with appropriate scrubbing material / brushes and rinse with pressure water hose and apply sanitizer with sprayer as required.
• Re-assemble packaging equipment, leave processing equipment unassembled after sanitizing.
• Perform special projects as directed, remove trash and keep floors clear
• Maintain safe work environment, recognize all potential hazards, perform within environmental Safety, Food Safety, and GMP guidelines.
• Follow all SSOP’s / cleaning procedures for all surfaces, infrastructure, equipment, and complete all sanitation sheets to maintain MSCS.
• Observe all areas of the plant for sanitation criteria, report deficiencies to sanitation supervisor and complete appropriate audit forms, inventory forms, and daily cleaning forms.
• Respond to any emergency cleanups when needed and perform other scheduled janitorial duties, special projects and other related duties as assigned or directed by the Supervisor, at end of shift, perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required.

• Must submit to background check, mandatory drug testing and not possess any significant chemical record as determined by the appropriate authorities.
• Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position.
• Must be able to work as a team and follow instructions.
• Must ensure all GMP / SQF and quality standards are met.

Specific Job Skills and Qualifications

• Must have (6) months of food processing experience and related sanitation experience preferred.
• Must complete Forklift / Hi-Lift and LOTO training as required.
• Must complete Chemical / Hazmat training and know MSDS information regarding all materials used within scope of the work.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended period of time.
• Must complete company “Cross Training” (observation, relevant testing, E-stop protocols) as required.
• Must have basic math skills and strong multi-tasking abilities.
• Must understand and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
• Must have ability to assist with the assembly, disassembly of equipment, and setups on required equipment.
