Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer
SUMMARY
Works with members of the management team, hourly workers, and other engineers to manage tooling, conduct design work and testing, and maintain quality standards for all product and systems by performing the essential duties and responsibilities personally or through subordinates.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities. Work with student engineers to create and direct design and process projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned). Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Member of the engineering team. Direct team activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures. Confer with management, production, and AAM sales team to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Focus on quality system requirements and process improvements for new and existing products. Interface with management and production teams to solve problems. Develop and follow a working schedule on major projects to ensure timely completion. Ensure continuous improvement on production, quality and safety responsibilities. Initiate action on project design, build, and testing. Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system. Verify the implementation of solutions.Comply with all corporate environmental responsibilities such as, but not limited to; Adherence to all policies, procedures, and programs. Create and/or assist with continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure internal EMS compliance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and any required job specific computer applications.
