Boiler Operator (PLA000263)
Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, compressors, generators and steam boilers, to provide for utilities, such as light, heat and power for refrigeration, air conditioning and other services for the facility. This position requires detailed knowledge of and the ability to operate and maintain the facility's major mechanical systems such as heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, communication, and fire protection.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Technical training from an accredited school or apprenticeship program for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, or other construction trades is preferred, or one year of previous commercial boiler plant experience, healthcare maintenance operations or skilled trade(s) experience in commercial/industrial maintenance. Knowledge and experience with arc and oxyacetylene welding and burning is a plus.
May be required to obtain and maintain boiler operator licenses or other certifications as specifically required by State or local authorities.
Analytical skills necessary to recognize, diagnose, and, within limits, repair equipment and system malfunctions.
Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and to give readily understood information in both verbal and written forms. Ability to read and write is essential.
Requires a valid State driver's license.
