General Description:
The Metrologist will work with the Technical Manager to design, develop, implement and maintain Tubelite's Quality System. The Metrologist will help develop appropriate standards, measurement systems and audit procedures. The Metrologist will help provide solutions to problems. The Metrologist will oversee the metrology lab and functions within.
Key Accountabilities:
•Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in one of the following disciplines -- dimensional, optical, physical/mechanical, -- in order to ensure compliance with published specifications.
•Maintain primary and/or intrinsic calibration standards along with secondary and/or working calibration standards.
•Develop calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, drawings, and other technical requirements.
•Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.
•Analyze measurement data for identifying abnormalities, trends and/or predicting future values.
•Prepare calibration reports and certificates.
•Inspect and evaluate new calibration standards for proper operation before releasing to calibration laboratory.
•Recommend standards for use in calibration applications.
•Apply engineering knowledge to the design and development of calibration methods and fixtures.
•Develop, document, and maintain calibration systems and procedures, based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements.
•Perform uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement processes.
•Design and document measurement reference material for laboratory use.
•Develop, implement, and maintain the calibration laboratory's quality systems per published standards and guidelines.
•Prepare samples for evaluation internally and externally.
•Development, implementation, and monitoring of internal control clans.
•Provide technical advice to other departments of the organization.
•Integrate all quality activities with Lean Continuous Improvement activities and capably facilitate appropriate Projects, Kaizen, A3's, and Daily Improvement activities.
•Lead projects to reduce costs associated with poor quality and/or excessive waste.
Qualifications:
•BS in Engineering or a related technical discipline
•At least 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
•Proficient in measurement sciences
•Basic computer and electronics skills
•Strong mathematical skills including proficiency in algebra, trigonometry, and statistical analysis techniques
•Ability to clearly define and communicate technical path determining and resolving quality issues both verbally and in writing
•Experience with AutoCad, AutoCad 2000 preferred
Qualifications Strongly Preferred:
•CQE and/or CQA certifications
•Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification
•Proficient in analytical geometry and physics
•Proficient in the use of Lean tools and methodology.
•Experience with GD&T
